With
perhaps the most innovative PDA design
since the original iPAQ 3600, the Audiovox
PPC-6601 offered the first Pocket PC constructed
around a slide-to-hide configuration. The PPC-6601 is a dual-band CDMA PCS phone.
Originally available
from Sprint PCS Business, the PPC-6601 is powered
by a 400MHz Intel Processor, and features 128MB of RAM, a
64MB Flash ROM, onboard Bluetooth, and an SDIO
slot for use with Secure Digital flash memory
cards and SDIO peripherals.
The
PPC-6600, a close sibling of the PPC-6601, was
also made available non-business Sprint PCS customers. Verizon
Wireless also launched the Audiovox
XV6600,
the Verizon-branded version of the PPC-6601.
The PPC-6601 was discontinued when Sprint launched their branded version of the HTC Apache, the PPC-6700, in late 2005.
