Step 1: Install a microSD Card in the Motorola RIZR Z3
Your Motorola RIZR Z3 shipped with a 128MB microSD flash memory card. This card must be installed beneath the battery cover. If you have not already, install the microSD flash memory card as shown below:

Step 2: Put the Motorola RIZR Z3 in Memory Card Mode
In the RIZR Z3 software, navigate to Main Menu > Settings > USB Settings. Use the Change soft key to change the value of this field to Memory Card. If the change is successful, you'll see the message: Changed - Default Connection Memory Card.
Step 3: Connect the Motorola RIZR Z3 to a Windows PC
Using the USB cable that shipped with the RIZR Z3, connect the phone to a Windows PC. The Z3 uses the generic Windows Mass Storage USB Driver, so no driver installation is necessary if using Windows XP or above.
Once connected, a new drive will appear in My Computer under Devices with Removable Storage:

This Removable Disk is the microSD card inside the Z3. The drive letter may be different than that shown above, depending on your computer's built-in drives.
Step 4: Writing To and Reading From the microSD Card
Now that you can see the microSD card as a drive in Windows, you can transfer files to or from from the card and your Windows PC. For example, if I have an MP3 song file that I want to copy to the RIZR Z3, I can drag and drop the file into the \mobile\audio subfolder on the card:

Once copied, the MP3 music file will be accessible in the Audio menu of the Fun & Apps group in the Main Menu. Obviously, image files should be copied to the \picture folder and video in the \video folder.
You can also move files from the microSD card to your Windows PC using the same technique.
Final Thoughts
Although the RIZR Z3 ships with a 128MB microSD card, you can purchase and use cards with larger capacities including 512MB (megabytes) and 1GB (gigabyte).
Audio, image and video files copied to the RIZR Z3 must be compatible with the onboard player software in order to be played back on the handset. Check with product documentation for compatible file formats.
