Dell X50v Immediate Disconnect When Syncing

Question When I sync my Dell Axim X50v Pocket PC with my computer, it disconnects.  The green sync wheel spins in ActiveSync, but a few seconds after I connect, my computer makes the "USB Disconnect" sound and I lose my connection.  How can I fix this?

Answer This error is common among all Pocket PCs, not just the Dell X50 Series.  It is caused when the syncing software of the Pocket PC has experienced an error of some type.

The best way to correct the problem is to perform a soft reset of your Pocket PC.  Remove the Pocket PC from its cradle or connection cable and perform a soft reset.  This is done by pressing the small recessed button the back, bottom or side of the unit.  A soft reset "reboots" the Pocket PC, and restarts all of the software, including the synchronization utility.

Allow your Pocket PC to finish booting. When you see the "Today Screen," reconnect your Pocket PC to its sync cradle or cable.
