NOTE: This
tutorial is based on functionality in Windows
Media Player 10 for the Microsoft Windows Operating
System. If
you do not have Windows Media Player 10, you can
download it here free
of charge. These instructions are also available Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Mobile devices.
Windows
Media Player 10 (WMP10) allows you to easily
transfer audio files to your Pocket PC. To
begin, simply compile a playlist in WMP10 on
your PC.

Once
you've constructed a playlist that includes the
songs you'd like to transfer to your Pocket PC,
make sure that your Pocket PC is connected to
your computer and select the "Sync" tab at the
top of the WMP10 screen.
From
the "Sync" screen, you can choose where on your
Pocket PC you'd like the audio files stored. In
the example below, we chose to transfer the
selected MP3 music files to the Pocket PC's
Secure Digital (SD) card. We highly
recommend that you invest in a Secure
Digital or CompactFlash card if you're planning to
use your Pocket PC as a music player.

Notice
at the bottom of both the "Sync List" and "SD
Card" columns, that file size and storage
space is noted; in our case, the total size of
the audio files we wish to send to our Pocket
PC is 32.32MB, and the amount of storage space
available on the SD Card is 473.49MB.
Once
you've selected the storage destination, and
you've made sure that the music selections you've
made will fit, click
.
Allow
the syncing process to complete. Following
the process, an updated listing of the contents
of the destination will be displayed:

The
transfer is now complete. When you
open the Windows Media Player Mobile on your
Pocket PC, the transferred files will now show
up as available audio tracks:
You
can also move audio files to your Pocket PC manually
with ActiveSync. For more information on
this process, click here.
