Along with the Touch Pro2, HTC announced another updated Windows Mobile Smartphone at WMC 2009 - the HTC Touch Diamond2. Like the Touch Pro2, the Diamond2 is an update its 2008 predecessor, the HTC Touch Diamond.
The HTC Touch Dimaond2 is larger than its predecessor, mainly to accommodate its 3.6-inch touchscreen display (up from 2.8" on the original). HTC has also upped the camera to a 5MP auto focus shooter.
Other features are fairly similar to the original Touch Diamond. There's a 528MHz Qualcomm CPU, 802.11g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (though the Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 are WinMo 6.5 ready). However, the Diamond2 ditches the Diamond's 4GB of onboard flash storage and brings back a microSDHC memory slot. HTC did up the system memory to 288MB of RAM and there's 512MB of internal storage included. Oh, and the Touch Diamond2 is upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5.
The HTC Touch Diamond2 will be released in Asia and Europe in Q2. Different reports place a U.S. release anytime between May and the end of summer 2009. No information on U.S. carriers has been confirmed, but you can bet you'll see the Diamond2 at two or three of the major U.S. wireless carriers.
