When HP's iPAQ hw6500 Series Pocket PCs debuted in the United States in 2005, many users were disappointed by its lack of Windows Mobile 5 and other popular features. HP's successors, the hw6900 Series models, were designed to address these concerns. Two hw6900 Series iPAQs were sold in the U.S. by way of Cingular (later AT&T Mobility); those models were the iPAQ hw6920 and hw6925.
The hw6920 is aimed primarily at business customers. The iPAQ hw6900 Series feature the Windows Mobile 5 OS, an onboard GPS receiver, built-in 802.11b Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 416MHz XScale processor and a miniSD flash memory card slot. The hw6920 is indentical to the hw6925, but lacks a built-in digtal camera.
The iPAQ hw6920 Mobile Messenger also included the Messaging Security and Feature Pack, also known as MSFP, the last major update to Windows Mobile 5 before the release of Windows Mobile 6 in 2007. The MSFP features software components which, when coupled with MS Exchange 2003, make push e-mail possible.
