There are several situations where one might need a silent ringtone for the iPhone — use of the Google Voice service, a friend or family member who always seems to call at the most inopportune time and so on.
Unfortunately, there is no such ringtone included on the iPhone, so we’ve created a very small file (12kb) you can download and use – free.
Just download and the ringtone file below(SilentRing.m4r) to your computer, connect your iPhone via iTunes and drag-and-drop the file to the iPhone section on the left-hand side of the iTunes window. The silent ringtone will then be an available option for specific contacts or as the default ringtone from the Settings > Sounds menu.

Download Silent Ringtone (right-click to download)
There are also great programs in the App Store for creating your own ringtones on the iPhone, two of our favorites being Ringtone Master Pro and the simply-named Ringtone.

Thanks! My dogs bark whenever my phone rings, not a huge deal, except for when Bank of America calls me 10 times a night!

Thanks a bunch, been trying to block someone from calling for a while, and this makes it easier. Was going to make my own, but to have it ready to load was appreciated. Thanks again.

Thanks works great when trying to avoid telemarketers that do not abide by the DNC (Do Not Call) list.

Couldn’t figure out why the App Store was charging $1.29 for silent ringtones. Duh, they’re silent; what were the development costs for that? You provided this necessary ringtone the honest way!

I have downloaded the silent ring but how do I get it in iTunes It just plays in Safari
January 6th, 2012 at 6:31 pm
Fantastic! Just download and installed this SilentRing on my iPhone4 – works really well – now, if there was an app that would key on an unwelcome incoming number – wait one or two (silent) rings then disconnect the call – that would be even better!

Thank you so much. The ringtone for some reason says SilentRing on the my ringtone list and then comes up Marimba on the sitting of the blocked call but the blocked call it’s not ringing and that was the result I needed. I’ve bookmarked this website. This is awesome! Thanks again.

Thank You for this! Up until now, I just had Ace Ventura saying “loser” every time these telemarketer parasites call.

This is great! It will help to restore a bit of sanity from all those unwanted calls.
Is there a way of recording a silent voicemail to associate with the unwanted calls?

THANK YOU!
This is a life saver!
Why can’t Apple do something so easy. oh wait, they want to charge.
