Giving your iPad 2 a home in your car, truck or van can be a tricky proposition, particularly when compared to the plethora of options available for smartphones. But while auto holders and mounts aren’t nearly as plentiful for the iPad 2, but there are still a few options.
The first is the DBTech Car Headrest Mount Holder (seen left), which attaches the iPad 2 to the back of a seat’s headrest so that passengers in the back can use the tablet to watch movies, browse the web, or play games. The included adjustable clamp can attach to most headrest posts, so this is a good option if your car’s seats have these posts.
If not, there’s another solution: the Snugg iPad 2 Car Headrest Mount Holder. This holder/mount also allows you to attach an iPad 2 to the rear of your car seat, but uses straps that hug the shape of the headrest rather than a post clamp. Unfortunately, using this holder requires a second purchase, the Snugg iPad 2 Leather Case.
But what if you want a more traditional mount designed for the driver rather than passengers? Perhaps the best solution made available to date is the RAM Suction Cup Twist Lock Mount.
Compatible with both the original iPad and the iPad 2, the RAM Mount has a suction cup that adheres to your windshield for easy access and viewing, and its shell is high-grade aluminum for solidity and lighter weight.
More automotive accessories for the iPad 2 are coming, but as of today these seem the best options from U.S. retailers. You can also check eBay, which often features accessories not yet available in the States.
