July 31, 2006 - With the popularity of RIM's BlackBerry line of wireless data devices, other companies have been scrabbling to release like-designed competition. The latest example of this drive is the Motorola Q Windows Mobile Smartphone, which features a BlackBerry-styled screen, scroll wheel and keyboard.
Today, new information and images have arisen concerning another BlackBerry-killer slated for release late this year. The Excalibur, the code-name for the upcoming device, is being developed by HTC, one of the most prolific Windows Mobile device designers in the world. The Excalibur will employ a landscape display, a QWERTY keyboard, and the Windows Mobile 5 operating system, just like the Motorola Q.
While official details on this device are not yet known, there are indications that the Excalibur may feature not only onboard Bluetooth, but also built-in Wi-Fi, a feature many smartphone users desperately want built into their handhelds.
