October 9 , 2006 - HP is going retro with a new Pocket PC Phone offering, the iPAQ rw6815. The new handheld does not feature a QWERTY keyboard and, like many current stand-alone Pocket PCs, requires all data entry by way of the touchscreen.
When Pocket PC Phones first came on the scene in 2002, they were largely touchscreen-centric. This design is still popular in other parts of the world, but most PPC phones sold in the United States offer some alternative input method, such as an expanding keyboard, integrated thumb-keyboard or hardware dial pad.
Features of the iPAQ rw6815 include 802.11b Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 416MHZ XScale processor, up to 1GB of internal flash memory storage and GSM/GPRS with EDGE support.
There's no word yet on availability or price, or even if we can expect to see this model in North America.
