February 9, 2007 - The Samsung i760 may be the first Pocket PC Phone to run Windows Mobile 6, but the first smartphone to run the upcoming OS may just be the Toshiba RG4-E01. New details about the RG4-E01 have surfaced thanks to a filing with the FCC:
FCC Filing Link
The FCC filing doesn't reveal everything about the upcoming Windows Mobile 6 Standard device, but we do know that the unit will have onboard Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HSDPA network compatibility. Other features include a 2MP digital camera and a 1200mAh Li-Ion battery. There doesn't appear to be a flash memory card slot shown in any of the images filed with the FCC, the top and bottom of the handset aren't visible. If there is a flash memory slot, it's likely a microSD.
There's no word on price or availability as yet, but HSDPA is only available in the United States from AT&T Wireless (formerly Cingular), so when the RG4-E01 hits the streets, it'll almost certainly be an AT&T offering.
New information will be posted as it becomes available.
