March 29, 2007 - AT&T recently announced plans to increase the upload speeds of its HSDPA wireless data network. The increase will be made via software updates throughout the year, with new hardware supporting the increased speeds scheduled for release around mid-2007. The telecom company also announced that its plans to deploy the high-speed network in up to 65 additional markets by January 2008.
Current HSDPA deployments by AT&T have upload speeds that top out around 380kbps (kilobits per second); the HSDPA improvements should raise the upload ceiling to approximately 1.5mbps (megabits per second) .
