May 16, 2008 - Since its release last year, Live Search for Windows Mobile has been widely considered one of the most useful free tools offered by Microsoft for its Windows-powered PDAs and Smartphones. Compatible with both touchscreen and non-touchscreen handhelds, Live Search provides one-screen access to many types of online data including phone and address search, local gas prices, maps and directions, traffic, and movie showtime information.  

The most recent version of Live Search for Windows Mobile adds WM6.1 compatibility along with a few new features. 

New Features

First, and most notably, Live Search now includes weather information based on the location you've set the application to service (seen left).  You get the current day's forecast plus the next four days' weather information.

A second feature is simply a link to Live Search on the web.  This Search icon launches your default browser and allows you to quickly search the web for any topic.

Another new feature, called Collections, is a bit less obvious than Weather and Search. According to Microsoft, a Collection is "a grouping of points on the Earth that have something in common."  You can find out more about user-created Collections by visiting http://www.passthepoi.com/.
