Dropbox Camera UploadGetting free Dropbox storage is always nice, and the company just keeps adding new and interesting ways of racking up extra MBs.  The latest, Camera Upload, is a new feature that allows compatible Android and iPhone smartphones running the latest version of the Dropbox app to automatically upload new photos and video to the service as you shoot them.  And for every 500MB of photos/video you upload, you’ll get 500MB of free storage – up to 3GB.

Of course, once you’ve earned that free space, you can always delete the photos or video files to keep your Cloud drive from becoming cluttered, but since the free space grows as you upload new content, you don’t have to worry much about it.

Extra free space can also be earned by uploading media when connected to your computer as long as you have the latest version of Dropbox running on your PC or Mac.

galnex_thumb1[1]Verizon Wireless is still selling Google’s latest flagship Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, for $299 with a two-year contract.  If you’re already a Verizon customer, you can beat that price by $70, but if you’re with Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile or another U.S. wireless carrier and have your heart set on the Galaxy Nexus, you can now get the first and (currently) only Android 4.0 phone for just $99.

Amazon Wireless has the Galaxy Nexus for $99 if you sign up for a new Verizon account with a two-year contract.  Amazon’s price for an upgrade is $259, though Wirefly has set the upgrade price at $229.

Amazon’s $99 price for new Verizon Wireless accounts may not last, so if you’ve been wanting a Galaxy Nexus and you’re with another carrier, don’t want too long…

T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide from HTC

This morning T-Mobile announced the MyTouch 4G Slide, a new Android 2.3 smartphone the carrier claims has the “most advanced camera of any smartphone.”  And given the specifications and  features, that claim may hold up.

The MyTouch 4G Slide (HTC Doubleshot) has an 8MP primary camera with a wide-aperture lens and dual LED flash.  Features of the camera include High Dynamic Range (HDR) like the iPhone 4, zero shutter lag for quick photos, improved low-light performance with a backside illuminated sensor (also like the iPhone 4), burst mode for taking multiple photos in quick succession, and SweepShot, which allows you to take panoramic photos by sweeping the phone in one smooth motion.  The phone can also capture 1080p video.

Aside from the camera-centric features, the newest MyTouch also looks to be a pretty impressive phone.  It’s powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon MSM8260 processor, has 768MB of RAM, a 3.7-inch SLCD touchscreen, support for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ “4G” data network, and the usual range of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS).

We think the iPhone 4 has the best camera available on a smartphone today, but with the MyTouch 4G Slide lifting its two best features – HDR and a backside illuminated CCD – while adding additional performance modes and an extra 3MP of image capture, T-Mobile’s claim may just be justified.

The MyTouch 4G Slide will be available in July for $199 with a two-year contract.

HTC EVO 3D (left) & HTC EVO View 4G (right)

This morning, Sprint announced two new Android powered devices from HTC: the HTC EVO 3D smartphones and HTC EVO View 4G tablet. Both run Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread’ and will ship on June 24th.

The HTC EVO 3D is the first smartphone to feature a “’glasses-free’ 3D” screen, a technology currently found only in the Nintendo 3DS.  The 3D-capable screen is 4.3-inches.

The new EVO also can record 3D video and take 3D photos thanks to its dual primary cameras.  Other features include a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of onboard storage, Sprint ‘4G’ network support, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, a microSDHC memory card slot, aGPS, a 1730mAh battery, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video chat.

The EVO View 4G is a new 7-inch Android tablet which, sadly, runs Android 2.3 rather than 3.0 or 3.1.  Powered by a Qualcomm 1.5GHz MSM8655 single-core processor, the EVO View 4G should be pretty snappy given its smaller display.  Primary features include 30GB of onboard flash storage, 1GB of RAM, 802.11n Wi-Fi, ‘4G’ data connectivity, a 5MP primary camera and 1.3MP front-facing camera, and GPS.  You can also add up to 32GB of additional storage by way of its microSDHC card slot.

The EVO 3D will sell for $199 with a two-year contract, while the EVO View 4G tablet will go for $399 with a similar two-year data service agreement.
