Pharos GPS Phone (PTL600)
The Pharos GPS Phone may not win any awards for its name, but it's worth your attention if you need a PDA, wireless phone and GPS receiver all in one device.
A re-branded version of the E-TEN X500, the Pharos GPS Phone 600 runs Windows Mobile 5 for Pocket PC Phone Edition and ships unlocked and ready for use on GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks, which translates to T-Mobile and Cingular (now AT&T) in the United States. On paper, the GPS Phone's specs are impressive: a SiRFStar-III GPS receiver, a 400MHz Samsung CPU, 802.11g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2MP digital camera and, perhaps, an onboard FM radio.
The Pharos GPS Phone 600 ships with Ostia software for GPS navigation, and to store maps there's also a 2GB microSD flash memory card included. The handset ships with several accessories including a leather case, a car mount, a car charger and Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005 software.
The PTL600e is also available, which ships without GPS navigation software if you already own a copy you'd like to use.
