Samsung released its first
Pocket PC Phone in 2004, the SPH-i700. The i700
initially ran the Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition operating system, though a Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade was made available before its discontinuation. The i700 was available
for use on the Verizon Wireless network in the United
States, and was the first Pocket PC device sold
in the United States with a digital camera onboard.
The
i700 features a Secure Digital
slot that supports not only SD
Flash Memory Cards,
but SDIO peripherals as well, including Bluetooth
& Wi-Fi SDIO cards.
The i700 was discontinued and replaced by the Samsung SCH-i730, which was subsequently discontinued and replaced by the Samsung SCH-i760.
