Building on the success of the BlackBerry 8800, the new 8820 adds several improvements to a familiar design. The BlackBerry 8820 is the first device from Research In Motion (RIM) to include built-in Wi-Fi, and includes the same built-in multimedia, memory expansion, web browsing and instant messaging capabilities that have defined the latest batch of BlackBerry smartphones.
Like the 8800 and the BlackBerry Curve, the 8820 features RIM's trackball navigation system. Other features include a QWERTY keyboard, an onboard GPS receiver with BlackBerry Maps, Bluetooth peer-to-peer wireless and the popular BlackBerry Push E-Mail system. The BlackBerry 8820 is compatible with EDGE data networks, but lacks faster HSDPA connectivity.
The BlackBerry 8820 is now available from AT&T Mobile. Whether the 8820 will be offered by T-Mobile remains unclear.
