Along
with the impressive e805
Pocket PC, Toshiba also released a mid-range Pocket PC, the e405 (also sold
as the e400). It featured a 300MHz XScale processor
and 64MB of RAM.
Several features set the e405 apart from other Pocket PCs of the time. Along with
ViewSonic's V35, the e405 was the thinnest Pocket
PC on the market at 0.4 inches thick. The e405 could
also act as a USB host with an optional cable. The
e405 and e805 both featured Voice Command software
as well.
A
Windows Mobile 2003 SE operating system update
has been released by Toshiba and can be downloaded
here.
The e405 was discontinued when Toshiba withdrew from the handheld market. A modern equivalent to the e405 is the HP iPAQ hx2495 Pocket PC.
